61. Jack Chance - A Family Story

Jack Chance is 9 years old and from Memphis, TN. He is the second oldest of four boys. He is so full of life and puts his heart and soul into everything he does, especially baseball and his artwork.  Jack was a patient at Le Bonheur Children’s hospital just six months ago in September of 2023. He spent 4 weeks in the pediatric ICU battling meningitis, hydrocephalus and a large blood clot. His case was extremely fatal. The infection caused an overload of fluid build up in his brain which cut off the flow of a major vein. As a result, a massive blood clot formed on the entire right side of his head and went down into his neck. He went temporarily blind from the high pressures in his brain and had a loss of coordination. He had 3 major surgeries and several lumbar punctures in the course of his hospital stay.
