96. Michelle Harris - Staff Member
Michelle Harris, RN, MSN, CCRN is the Clinical Director for the Cardiac Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Michelle started her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Le Bonheur in 1997. Since that time, she has also held leadership positions in the Emergency Department. She has been a part of the CVICU since its opening in February 2008. Michelle is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Society, and the Children’s Hospital Association Cardiac Director’s Forum and certified as a pediatric critical care Registered Nurse (CCRN) by the AACN. During her time as a nurse, Michelle has participated in research, co-authored journal articles, and presented at a national conference.
Michelle has had a love for pediatric but especially cardiac patients since she became a nurse. “The heart is the most complex organ in the body. The advanced knowledge and skill required to care for this fragile patient population drove me to become a lifelong learner and always strive to find ways to better care for our patients.” As a nursing leader, Michelle fosters the same in the members of her teams. She encourages bedside nursing as a destination as well as supports pursuit of advanced nursing degrees for those interested. She has an innate ability to foster growth in those who come into contact with her. Michelle considers herself a “lifer” at Le Bonheur and frequently shares the pride that she takes in being part of an organization that has an impeccable reputation in the community. She lives the mission, vision, and values of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare on a daily basis and considers it a great honor to be able to call Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital her home.
